Queensland First Home Buyer Grants and Concessions

Queensland first home buyers buying a home valued up to $500,000 do not have to pay mortgage duty. Queensland first home buyers can also benefit from transfer stamp duty concessions that could save them up to $8,750 on transfer stamp duty costs.

Regional Bonus
First home buyers purchasing a newly constructed property in regional Queensland may be eligible to receive an additional bonus of $4,000 on top of the $7,000 First Home Owner Grant. Elgibility for the regional bonus is the same as for the FHOG, with the addition of purchasing in specified regional areas. 

Non-eligible council areas include:

  • Brisbane City Council
  • Gold Coast City Council
  • Ipswich City Council
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Logan City Council
  • Moreton Bay Regional Council
  • Redland City Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council
  • Sunshine Coast Regional Council
